Breatharian

I realized that I never post on Thursday’s and I’m not sure why. I don’t have any classes today (until I have my night class tonight, which got canceled today, by the way).
Speaking of my night class, it’s a class about the Aging Process and blahblah it’s boring. I took it because I needed to be a full time student.

Anyways, for this class, we don’t have any tests; however, once a week we have to write a page paper over a topic we found interesting in the book (that my professor wrote…). Then, find an outside source and tie it in with the topic and relate it back to aging. Sounds way dumb, I know.

This week, I found a topic that I found WAY interesting. I was in the process of writing my paper about it, but then realized that it has nothing to do with “aging” necessarily, at least not what he’s looking for, so I decided to share what I found here.

So, as my header says, a Breatharian. I’m going to assume that anyone who reads this has not a clue what a Breatharian is because I’ve never heard of it myself.

A breatharian is a person who doesn’t eat or drink, like at all. They get their source of energy from breathing and the sunlight basically.

I found an article and I’ll sum it up. But it’s here if you’re interested.

Basically, the Indian military doctors from the Defense Research Development Organization took Prahlad Jani, an 82-year-old yogi, to a hospital and placed him in isolation for two weeks. The doctors watched him around the clock to monitor him.

For the full two weeks, he didn’t eat or drink anything. He claims it’s been 70 years since he’s had anything to eat or drink. Because of this, he also didn’t urinate or pass a stool. His urine (sorry if this is graphic for some ha) reabsorbed into his body after being in his bladder.

“After 14 days without food or water, stunned doctors reported that the mystic’s body had not shown any adverse effects from either hunger or dehydration.”

apps

I would love to whine on here about how my horrible day was.. horrible, but I won’t.
Instead, I’ll share my two favorite games on my itouch that I like to play when I’m not busy with my nose buried in books.

Game 1: Words With Friends

Why is it so fun? It’s Scrabble. Who doesn’t like scrabble?! Plus it’s so much easier to play than the actual game because it tells you what is a word and what isn’t. That’s quite helpful, especially when trying to sneak in major point. πŸ˜‰

It also let’s you play with… YOUR FRIENDS, from other iphones/itouches. Or it lets you play with random people, which is odd but still fun because I don’t think you’d want to play Scrabble by yourself.

Oh, and it’s free, which is definitely a plus.

Words With Friends

Game 2: Angry Birds

Unlike Words With Friends, Angry Birds costs 99 cents. BUT – there are so many levels to the full version of this game. It’s totally worth the dollar, I promise.

HOWEVER, there are free versions of Angry Birds, called “lite” games, that have, I think, 9 levels to play? There are quite a few of those I believe.

What’s so awesome about this game? It’s not time consuming; meaning that you can quit playing at any point and pick up where you left off. Though, it is addicting, so beware.

Oh, and I forgot. For those who’ve never heard of Angry Birds.. this is basically what the game is:
You have birds, and you slingshot them to bricks/wood/steal/ice/etc, and all of those are protecting these green pigs (HA this sounds so lame). Your goal is to basically kill them (this is not graphic either) and you get points!

Taco Pasta

I made this recipe a week ago.. and I’ve been meaning to gather my photos. So, I finally did! It was actually pretty good!

Ingredient:

1 pound ground beef or turkey
8 ounce small dry pasta shapes (I added a little more than that.. about 10-12 oz)
1 small onion, chopped
1 clove garlic, minced
1 (14 oz.) can diced tomatoes, drained
4 tablespoon taco seasoning (which is probably the whole packet..)
3 ounce cream cheese
1/2 cup sour cream
Salt and pepper

All of the ingredients

Brown meat

Boil water; prepare onion and garlic

Add noodles to boiling water

Add onions right before meat is done; then add garlic soon after and let cook for about 1 minute

Add can of diced tomatoes and taco seasoning

Add sour cream

Add 1/2 cup reserved pasta water, cream cheese, and meat

Salt and pepper to taste; I added cheese but the recipe didn't call for it. Add cheese or don't!

I got this recipe from here.

Enjoy!

Spike

I had a little photo shoot with my boyfriend’s dog πŸ™‚ His brother came to visit us this weekend, so he brought their dog πŸ™‚ His name is Spike, and he’s a mix of possibly a Rottweiler and a Beagle?

He liked it outside

He yawned.. but it was blurry

Catching some rays

πŸ™‚

He really was camera shy most of the time..

You said WHAT?!

That last picture is the funniest one out of all of them. Every time I see it, I crack up πŸ™‚ He’s so silly. He has some crazy ears.

Enjoy!

Interview With Myself

1. What Do You Do For A Living?

I go to school and I’m a nursing major. That’s what I’m living for, but I don’t do anything “for a living”, i.e., earning money just yet.

2. Who Do You Love?

I love my boyfriend. But I also love my best friends, and they know who they are. If I didn’t have them in my life, I don’t know how I could of gotten through high school, college, and life in general. They’re my support system all the way.

3. Do You Have Enough Money?

I have enough money to support myself but I have my parents who help me with college though.

4. Are You Healthy?

I might look healthy, but I don’t eat enough foods that are good for my body, like fruits and vegetables. 😦 It’s sad really. I try to cut back on sweets though, and I drink water.

5. Do You Think You Are a Good Person?

Yes I think I’m a good person. I mean, I want to be a nurse and you kind of have to be a good person to be a nurse in my opinion. I’m not mean to many people, and when I am, it’s not like I enjoy arguing with someone. I think the definition of a good person can be taken from many perspectives.

6. How Old Are You?

I’m 20. Nearing 21. I feel.. about that age, but I wish I was younger sometimes, and sometimes I wish I was older. Being stuck in the almost having a career but not there just yet is sort of stressful and overwhelming, hence why I would like to be younger or older.

7. Who’s Your Best Friend?

Yes, I have more than one. I have quite a few. My boyfriend is my best friend, considering he knows me the most, but I also have two best friends that I’ve known forever. They know everything about me, as I know everything about them and we wouldn’t change a thing. I do have other really good friends though.

8. What’s Your Childhood Dream?

My childhood dream was .. so many things. From what I remembered, I wanted to be: a professional ice skater (I didn’t even ice skate?), a hair dresser, a judge, a vet, a dentist, then I came into high school wanting to be a psychiatrist. Came to college, and didn’t think it was for me. Now, here I am wanting to be a nurse. I’m pretty much stuck on this path, but I’m happy to be stuck here πŸ™‚ I also wanted to travel the world. I haven’t gotten to do that, but I have been to new places during the past few years. Might not be another country, but new experiences are all I want.

9. How Often Do You Laugh?

This is an odd question. I laugh at least everyday. I’m not sure how many times a day I laugh. I try to not let people get under my skin and make me a grumpy Gary. If other people are in a bad mood, I just try to remember that there’s no need to be angry or upset.

10. What Makes You Smile?

Ten things that make me smile:

– Dogs, but more specifically MY dogs πŸ™‚
– My favorite people; i.e., boyfriend, best friends, family
– Rain
– Photoraphy
– Swimming
– Books
– Polar bears, duh
–Β  Music
– Stars
– Chinese Food

11. Who’s Your Most Dangerous Enemy?

My dangerous enemy? No one really.. I guess I’m my own enemy. I’m really hard on myself and I pushΒ  myself in school…. well sometimes. I try not to be too hard though.

12. Where Do You Live?

I live in two places at once! Crazy. I live in Indiana for school, but I live at home with my family in the summer. At school, I have an apartment with two other people. At home, I, well.. live with my family haha.

13. Do You Think You’re Strong?

I don’t think I’m as strong as I can be. I’m a strong and indepedent person, but I also like the occasional help with things. I think I’ll become a stronger person when I become a nurse, honestly. Sorry I keep talking about nursing…

I would define a strong person as someone who can handle any situation, any obstacle that comes in their way. A strong person has the mental ability and intellectual ability to figure out a situation.

14. What Was The Most Important Thing You’ve Done So Far?

Oh wow this is a tough one. I’m not sure I can honestly answer this.

The only thing that pops in my head is this story:

Last year, it was winter time and it was fairly icy. I was headed to class and this girl in a wheel chair was crossing the road the same time I was. Her wheel got stuck in a pothole that was full of ice and she couldn’t move. People just kept walking around her so I gave her a push. She smiled πŸ™‚

15. What Was The Most Stupid Thing You’ve Done So Far?

The most stupid thing I’ve done was change my major too late. I was majoring in psychology; I didn’t feel it was for me, so I switched to something semi-similar and went to nursing. I’m now a year behind and I have to pay for another years worth of schooling. I regret changing my major late, but then again, if I would of applied to nursing a year earlier, I might not of been accepted.

16. Do You Love Yourself?

There are some things I like, and some things I don’t. There are days where I like my hair, and other days where I wish I worked out more. I won’t go into that many details.

17. What Do You Fear The Most?

I fear I won’t succeed in life. I feel like I don’t know what’s really out there, and one day I’m going to be thrown into the real world, and fail.

18. What Is Your Favorite Word?

I have no clue.. there was a road name that I never forgot that I saw one time..

Shwango

19. When Was The Last Time You Cried?

Probably when I thought my dog had to go into surgery again because of bladder stones and my parents weren’t sure if they were going to pay for a 3rd surgery.

20. What Is The Best Thing That Could Happen To You Right Now?

I pass nursing school with flying colors. At least the first semester.

21. What Is The Worst Thing That Could Happen To You Right Now?

I couldn’t afford to come back to school.

22. Picture Yourself In 5 Years From Now

In five years.. hm hopefully I’m done with school. I might go for my masters. I want a steady job that I enjoy. Engaged perhaps?

23. Do You Regret Anything?

I regret the fights that my best friends and I have had in the past.

24. What’s The First Thing You Do In The Morning?

I typically lay in my bed for around 10 minutes. I moan and complain about getting up so damn early. Then, I get dressed and then go to the bathroom.

25. What Are You Thinking Just Before Going To Bed?

I think of what I have to do coming up in the week. Or if something interesting happened that day, I think of the event all over again from beginning to end.

26. What Was The Highest Point You’ve Ever Been To?

Sears Tower in Chicago. I have been to the Smokey Mountains, so maybe I’ve been on a mountain that’s higher than the Sears Tower haha.

27. If There’s One Thing In Your Life You Want To Change Right Now, What Is It?

No more cold weather. I’m tired of wearing coats.

28. What Are You Proud Of?

Getting accepted into nursing school. And how far I’ve made it in school and life in general.

29. Sum Up Your Life In One Sentence

My life is full of school, hours and hours of studying, eating food, and sleeping.

30. Name The Thing That Annoys You The Most

I hate when forks and knifes scratch a plate. I hate when people walk slow and drive slow. I hate pot holes. I hate my nose being squeezed, and yes it happens.

31. What Is Your No 1 Question To God?

I prefer not to discuss religion.

32. Do You Have Secrets?

Yes.

33. What Makes You Laugh?

People in general make me laugh. I love to people watch. So many weirdo people out there.

34. Are You Happy?

Yes, I’m fairly happy. There are times when I’m down, but I’m content with where life is taking me.

In Chicago

I got my question’s from here.

Nursing Home Week 2

I went to the nursing home again today for the second time. We go every Wednesday.

I was WAY less nervous going in this time. I didn’t get all anxious and I was more comfortable going. This week was basically the same as last week. We went around and said hi to the residents and did some assesements while just talking to them.

When we first got there, my teacher found this lady that had a vein and an artery fused together, called a fistula. It was so interesting to feel and listen to. It felt like electricity was going through her body. And it sounded like a woushing noise in a hose or something. She was kind enough to let all of the nursing students to look and listen.

I talked to a couple other residents. Many were sleeping or out of their rooms, so there weren’t as many to talk to this time. I did talked to two ladies and did a mental assessment on them.

Then, I went home for the day πŸ™‚

– lilies –

For Valentine’s Day, my boyfriend got me flowers.

I thought I’d share them because I think they’re really pretty πŸ™‚

Dog Show

Today, my boyfriend took me to a dog show, of all things to entertain ourselves with. I’ve never been to one, so it was a new experience. It was actually pretty entertaining! I melt over dogs.. I’m pretty sure I’ve said this before in a previous post.. so I was basically in heaven.

I took some photos on my journey.

As a quick side note: I have two Bichon’s. For those who don’t know what those are, it’s the dog(s) in the first 3 pictures that I took. I had to represent my two doggies πŸ™‚ Oh.. and they don’t look anything like these Bichon’s. They’re cut short ha.

Love||

Valentine’s Day is approaching.. uh ohhh.

Love boggles the brain so much. It’s so confusing and sounds so painful!

love gives people butterflies
makes them lose their breath
and make their heads spin.. what kind of thing is this!!!

Fortunately, I’ve found someone that I, hopefully, will spend the rest of my life with. He means the world to me and I wouldn’t change a thing. We’ve been together for 2 years and 2 months (I had to throw that in there). That’s quite a long time to spend with someone in my opinion. We accept each other for who we are and we love each others flaws.. well most of the time. He tolerates more of my flaws than I do of his. πŸ™‚

For those who are going through a rough time, and I’m hinting this towards one of my best friends, love never ceases to exist. If one relationship doesn’t work out, another one will. And when relationships are being strained and get confusing, it still can be worked out. Communication, openness, and understanding is the key to amazing relationships.

I learned that the hard way with my ex-boyfriend. When I started dating my current boyfriend, things were completely different and the way we worked things out made me so much happier. We talk about anything and everything, which has made our relationship last. When we do fight though, I would rather keep my feelings to myself than to discuss them; my current boyfriend didn’t approve of that and pushed me to be open. I’m still closed off sometimes, but I’ve gotten better. He might not think so, but I do πŸ™‚

My point: People need to accept each others flaws. Flaws make people beautiful and unique. How boring would it be if everyone looked the same, acted the same, ate the same, and talked the same! Booooring.

So for this Valentine’s Day; Spend it with your loved one, your best friend, your roommates, your family, or be spontaneous and ask someone to be YOUR Valentine πŸ™‚

The Pot Hole

I live in an apartment, third floor, and right next to a road. It hasn’t bothered me that I live right next to a road. It’s nothing like a highway whatsoever, and it’s not the busiest road in town. It’s the road in between two busy roads basically.

I don’t drive around here that often, considering I live in walking distance to school, and well.. I have a boyfriend for that πŸ˜‰

However, what blows my mind is how OFTEN people hit this freaking pot hole right outside my place. If I look out my window, I can see this GIANT GAPING HOLE in the road. How come I can see it.. but people driving can’t!? I’m here in my town for roughly 9 months of the year for school, I drive maybe.. MAYBE.. once a week for groceries, and yet I still know where the pot holes are like the back of my hand. If I know where they are.. they should too.

They are literally craters. Like some meteor came crashing down and left a big hole in the ground.

To my point, people hit this pot hole outside of my apartment like it’s their job. Or they TRY to hit it because.. I don’t know.. it’s fun? Want to know how I know people hit this specific pot hole?

No, I don’t sit and stare out my window.. that’s creepy.

I can hear them hit it! That can tell you how deep this pot hole is to the point that I can hear it inside my apartment with my tv on… I’d say about 65% of cars driving by end up hitting it.

It’s ridiculous. People had to of popped their tire in this crater.

Maybe I should make a sign, stick in the ground, and have it point to the pot hole. I bet that would get peoples attention πŸ™‚
